A promising two year old has hit the quarter horse racing scene in western Canada. His name is "Global Exciter", and his stable nickname is “Richie”. The name is no accident, as he has ties to the Global brand through his owners Earl Brown and wife Donalda Cochrane. Besides Earl's success as a horse breeder and Donalda's accomplishments as a trainer, they also happened to be early investors in Global Geophysical.
Donalda has trained other notable horses such as Pow Wow Lane who won the 2007 Canada Cup. Another colt bred and raised on Earl and Donalda's farm landed a role in the movie Seabiscuit. Global Exciter comes from championship bloodlines, sired by "Special Leader" and mother "Dash the Night Away".
Global Exciter won his maiden race in July 2008 by an impressive ¾ of a length. His second race was a photo finish second place. On August 2, Global Exciter put on an exciting performance, taking first place over seven more experienced horses, including the winner of the race that edged him out in the previous photo finish race.
This latest win qualifies Global Exciter to compete in the $150,000 Ford Juvenile Challenge Championship scheduled November 8 at Evangeline Down in Opelousas, Louisiana. |
