February 21, 2007:  Larry Walker joins Global Geophysical as World Wide Manager of Recording Instrumentation

Larry Walker has joined Global Geophysical Services as our World Wide Manager of Recording Instrumentation.  With over 30 years of experience in the seismic industry, Larry brings extensive knowledge and strong leadership to Global’s field support team and a proven track record in applied instrument technology.

After three year’s of service as a linguist/analyst in the US Army, Larry began his career in seismic with Western Geophysical, working his way through the ranks of observer, systems engineer, land supervisor and field support manager for Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME) operations.  In 1996, he became the World Wide Manager of Applied Technology Land, and later managed World Wide Applied Technology Marine.  Following the merger of Western Geophysical and Schlumberger’s Geco-Prakla which formed WesternGeco, Larry transitioned to managing the company’s Houston-based facility that was established for testing and evaluating new developments in seismic equipment.  His team provided recommendations for improving products and for mitigating potential risks.  He also conducted Rapid Response Engineering in which he provided research and prototyping resources for the development of specialized field equipment.  Larry retired from WesternGeco in 2003.  Larry recently has served Global Geophysical as a consultant in applied technology recording instrumentation projects.

Larry will have dual reporting roles and responsibilities at Global.  He will report to the product line Vice Presidents, Maurice Flynn, Kirk Girouard and Duncan Riley, providing technical assistance for issues relating to recording instrumentation.  His initial objectives include developing inventory controls and standardizing equipment maintenance procedures for recording equipment used by Global crews operating worldwide.  Supporting Larry is Global’s world-class team of expert instrument technicians, including Houston-based staff Tyler Peters, Gordon McLarnon and Derk Record, and crew-based technicians Brian Calledare, Jorge Davila, Allen Dunaway and Dave Ulanday.

Larry also will report to Tom Fleure, Vice President of Geophysical Technology, pursuing applied technology developments that will ensure that Global’s operations are using the most effective equipment and methods available.

Larry graduated from Oklahoma State University Tech with technical degrees in both electronics and industrial instrumentation.  During his service at Western Geophysical, Larry was instrumental in the development of a variety of patented seismic equipment.
