Global Geophysical Services, Inc. (“Global”) is pleased to announce that it has acquired the shot-hole drilling assets of Mercer Seismic Exploration, LLC (“Mercer”).  

Mercer has been a well-respected operator in the Mid Continent area for many years.  Working with his father, Rick Mercer started the Mercer business in 1974 while he was still in high school.  At that time, the company’s primary service was gravel-packing holes working in conjunction with other drilling contractors.  In 1983, Rick ventured into shallow hole drilling, and by 1986 the company was offering deep drilling services and working with some of the industry’s leading seismic acquisition companies.

While Rick had several opportunities to grow the business, he opted to keep his operations small in scale, offering well-managed, safe, high quality services to his clients.  Mercer has completed projects in all but three of the 77 counties in Oklahoma, and has worked in eight states, including nearly every city in Arkansas, Kansas and Texas that borders Oklahoma. 

Global has hired all Mercer employees, and we are excited to welcome Rick Mercer and his crew to the Global family.

With the addition of Rick, his people, and equipment, Global now provides drilling services as an integral part of the seismic data acquisition services offered to our clients.  Because of the good name that Mercer has established in the industry, Global plans to operate the newly acquired assets under the name “Mercer Drilling, a division of Global Geophysical Services, Inc.”
